New homes planned for former haulage yard in Long Whatton

The site, which is located on Main Street, benefits from planning permission for two detached houses and nine flats, along with a new access road, garaging and off-street parking.

This residential development is within the heart of the village, near to the local Post Office and shop, while still being adjacent to open countryside.

Gary Kirk of Mather Jamie comments: “We are delighted to have secured a sale on this site, which sold well, reflecting the desirability of Long Whatton as a popular place in which to live.

“We are seeing strong interest from the market this year, with high demand for small development sites such as this one, particularly in affluent locations such as Long Whatton.”

Long Whatton is a mainly residential village with a population of just over 1,000, and has a small primary school, plus two traditional pubs, farm shops and a tea room.

Jane Thurman, of T.H.E. Homes, who purchased the site, said: “We intend to construct a collection of high specification homes, thoughtfully and carefully designed to meet the needs of modern family life.

“With our successful and established background in energy efficient and built-to-last construction, we will ensure these new detached homes are built to individual architects’ designs to complement the area and take advantage of the countryside position.”

Long Whatton benefits from excellent road links and is located three miles from
Junction 24 of the M1, the A50 and the A6. East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington can also be found within three miles and Loughborough, with its railway station is located five miles away.
