Mather Jamie completes sale of prime residential site in Burbage to Cameron Homes
10/12/2025
Mather Jamie has completed the sale of a 2.5Ha (6.2-acre) residential development site in the sought-after Leicestershire village of Burbage on behalf of the landowner, Central Co-op.
The land has been acquired by Cameron Homes, with outline planning permission already in place for the construction of 40 new homes, granted by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
Located less than a mile from Junction 1 of the M69 and accessed from Workhouse Lane, the site sits just two miles from Hinckley town centre and its train station.
Twenty per cent of the proposed homes have been allocated for affordable housing. Cameron Homes – a five-star HBF, Staffordshire-headquartered housebuilder has appointed Pegasus Architects to prepare a Reserved Matters Planning Application, which is expected to be submitted in early 2026.
Karla Williams, Associate Director at Mather Jamie, said “It’s been a pleasure to work with Cameron Homes on this land deal, which will see this prime site brought forward for much-needed family and affordable housing. The speed of the transaction reflects how well the opportunity aligned with both our client, Central Co-op and Cameron Homes.”
Andrew Buckley, Head of Property at Central Co-op, adds: “We’re pleased to see the site moving forward in a way that supports the needs of the local community. This development will bring high-quality family and affordable homes to Burbage, and we’re confident Cameron Homes will deliver a scheme that reflects both the character of the village and the values we hold as a co-operative. We look forward to seeing the plans come to life and the benefits they will bring for future residents.”
Commenting on the acquisition, John Hickman, Group Land Director for Tara Group and Cameron Homes, said “We’re very pleased to secure this site as Burbage is a highly desirable village on the outskirts of Hinckley and the Cameron brand is already well established here. Being less than a mile from the Midlands motorway network, future residents will benefit from quick travel to Coventry, Leicester, Tamworth and Birmingham via the M1, M6, M69 and A5.”
The 40 homes will be designed with traditional red brick and rendered elevations to complement the local vernacular. The development is set to achieve a high EPC rating, incorporating modern green energy features such as Smart Hive thermostats, electric vehicle charging points, and solar PV panels.
As part of the scheme, Cameron Homes will deliver ecological enhancements to the site, including the creation of an attenuation pond to encourage local wildlife and increase biodiversity.
Burbage offers a wide range of village amenities, including shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, two schools, a library and a village hall, making it a highly attractive location for families.
