Mather Jamie Appoints New Head of Planning
02/03/2026
Mather Jamie is delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Dillarstone as our new Head of Planning, further strengthening our planning and development expertise.
Tom brings a strong academic and professional background to the role, holding a BSc in Planning & Public Policy and an MSc in Town Planning. He has been a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) since 2011, underlining his long-standing commitment to professional excellence within the planning sector.
As Head of Planning, Tom will lead Mather Jamie’s Planning team, steering land and development projects through the full planning process — from initial site appraisal and local plan promotion through to the submission of planning applications and negotiation of Section 106 agreements. His appointment reinforces the firm’s dedication to delivering strategic, commercially focused planning advice across schemes of all sizes and types.
Commenting on his appointment, Tom said “The opportunity to join a well-respected firm like Mather Jamie and work as part of a committed team was extremely appealing. The number of exciting schemes the business is involved in — across a wide range of sectors and scales — was also a major factor in my decision to join.”
Outside of work, Tom enjoys hiking and in 2023 completed the renowned Tour du Mont Blanc, reflecting his enthusiasm for challenge and perseverance — qualities that align closely with his professional approach.
Mather Jamie looks forward to the leadership, insight and energy Tom will bring to the Planning team and to supporting clients in navigating the increasingly complex planning landscape.
