Head Coach Rob Paternostro, Chief Executive Russell Levenston, Forward Andy Thomson and Captain Tyler Bernardini swapped basketballs for golfballs to help raise money for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough.
The Riders played alongside Mather Jamie staff, their clients and other professional contacts in seven teams, at Rothley Park Golf Club. £290 was raised for the charity through the informal competition, and Mather Jamie gave an additional contribution, making a total of £600 for the Hospice.
Rob Paternostro said; “Though golf is obviously not the sport we’re used to, we Riders always like a challenge, and we were very happy to face off against our sponsors and supporters Mather Jamie and their associates, especially as it was all for a good cause.”
Alex Reid, Director of Mather Jamie, said, “We wanted to raise funds for the Rainbows Hospice, which is a vitally important Loughborough charity, while at the same time enjoying a spot of friendly competition with our clients, associates and of course the Leicester Riders, whom we’re proud to support.”
Loughborough-based surveyors Mather Jamie have sponsored the Leicester Riders for more than five years, and look forward to supporting the country’s oldest and most successful basketball team in the future.
