Sale of land for development near Thurmaston

Project Background

Mather Jamie were instructed by the client to market a brownfield site which was formerly the premises of an industrial business that has ceased to operate situated near Thurmaston. The client had obtained full planning approval for the construction of 18 new build dwellings. Mather Jamie advised the Vendor to obtain ground and gas contamination reports in order to provide a detailed information pack. The site was offered for sale by way of Private Treaty.

Project Outcome

Mather Jamie successfully agreed terms with Modus Partnerships who have purchased the site on an unconditional basis with completion taking place in August 2022. The site will deliver 18 affordable houses and once fully constructed it will be operated by Midland Heart Housing Association, providing much needed affordable housing to the area.

Despite some interesting planning challenges due to the ground conditions and it’s brownfield status, Mather Jamie were able to guide the Vendor to an excellent end result.
